City Farmhouse.... Nashville here we come!

On a spur of the moment last weekend, we decided to visit our dear friends Jenni and AJ from The Vintage Songbird, down in Nashville !

They were set up at The City Farmhouse Pop Up Shop in Franklin Tennessee.

It is a lovely show on a beautiful property in the hills of Tennessee. 

 This year it was set at the famed music producer Buddy Killen's former estate.  
There were artists set up from all over.  A couple of our favorites from Ohio :)

So we packed up in the wee hours of Friday morning and headed south!

We got there around 1:30.  The place was packed.  The booths were all beautiful.  

Jenni had already sold her two amazing sofas before we even arrived!

 Loved the tables scape with a chandy!  Always love a good chandy!

 I almost went home with this great Produce sign....and I loved these chickens!

We ended our night heading back to Nashville to BB Kings for dinner, drinks and some AMAZING music and dancing!  It was a great trip!

 Great friends!  Great day!  Great night!

hubby's piece

As you know there is always one pet project that my hubby works on for the sale.
This truly is the "Pièce de résistance"

This is quite possibly the most amazing cupboard we have ever seen!
It did not start out that way.  
We actually bought it in pieces, not knowing if it was all there, and painstakingly put it back together piece by piece.

 Put it back together and painted her up.

Needless to say my husband outdid himself on this one.
The bottom would be an amazing island, but the top piece is absolutely beautiful!
I hope it goes to a lucky home!

The Vintage Songbird

My dear friend Jenni, from The Vintage Songbird, will be bringing this beautiful table and chairs along with other AMAZING vintage goodies for the sale.  
Jenni and AJ do amazing work!

religious medals

I have been collecting religious medals and rosaries for many years.  
I am now making them into something very special.  

I love the fact that they have all been hand touched, and cherished for so many years.  
They have a magical sense about them.  
I try to imagine who held them in their church service or during times of trouble, times of joy.

I am making special gifts this Holiday.  They are really two gifts in one.  
The first is a beautiful charm bracelet.  
The bracelet is made of many, many vintage religious charms and medallions, buttons, pearls and baubles and bits.


Added to it, is additional length so that you can wear it as a necklace.  
Each necklace contains a piece of vintage rosary beads.
In addition each piece will contain a vintage four leaf clover button or charm for added extra good luck for the wearer!

A perfect way to bring in the New Year, with a very lucky, blessed new gift for you or a loved one!

Here are a few of the hands I got over the weekend.
We found some great old mannequin hands.

You can always use another hand!!

We also got some great glove vintage glove mold hands.

The glove mold hands are made of resin and make great chalkboards to write messages.

and the trophy goes to....

i just bought this great, ugly set of trophy loving cups.  
They are in horrible shape, which is why I like them so much!
This type of trophy is called a loving cup.
They are large, two-handled cup, often made of silver, that may take many forms. 
In the past, at weddings, banquets, or meetings, a loving cup might be shared by a number of persons for ceremonial drinking, symbolizing friendship and unity. 
Loving cups are often given as trophies to winners of games or other competitions.
They are very hard to find and when you do find them they are very expensive and not usually in the best shape. (as pictured above! lol!)
Oh well, I'm in love with my ugly loving cups!

big band

I love old instruments.

I love the patina of old instruments.  Old wood, old silver.  

Here are a few from my collection.  

I think I have enough for a small band... violens, cellos, saxaphones, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, baritones...

I have them all over my house.

fun advertising signs

 We went to a sale yesterday and I found these really cool vintage waxed advertisements. 
 I think they would be really cool framed and put in a kitchen. 
 The graphics are really fun, bright and cheerful!  They made me smile :)

jackpot!

We went picking last Saturday.  My husband and I have gotten into kind of a routine this winter.  
Friday night we do bills and get caught up on our TV from the week (American Idol, Pawn Stars, Auction Kings, American Pickers, Storage Wars, Modern Family, The Office, The Bachelor (yes I'm addicted!)
Then on Saturday we do a date, where we go pickin' for the next Sale.  
Either a flea market, an auction, or our favorite stores.  
Sometimes the kids want to come along, sometimes they have other things to do.  
Then on Sundays we do our crafting, setting up, painting etc.
This past Saturday I found this basket of chandelier crystals at a flea market.

Being the chandelier fanatic that I am, I am always in need of crystals when I refurbish my lights.
I asked the gentleman how much he wanted for the whole basket.  I think I caught him off gaurd, as usually they are sold individually for $1-2 each crystal.  He thought for a minute and said "how about $100?"  My heart was racing and I called my hubby over and he said "do you really need any more crystals?" (buzz kill)  
I said "YES!  I always need crystals, besides I think there is surely at least 100 crystals in this basket, so that is an ok deal."  
I asked the gentleman if he would take $90?  Yes!  Score!
On the way home we each took a guess at how many crystals there were in the basket.  Kind of like the jelly beans in the jar kind of thing.
My husband guessed 152.  I guessed 174.  We were both wrong!
There were over 500 crystals in that basket!
JACKPOT!!!
