purple rain....

The first things up in my garden is everything purple...all shades of purple...
First is the hesperis or dames rocket.  This is the pretty purple flowers you see along the road side in many shades of purple.  Dig some up and add to your garden.
It reseeds and is so light and airy and pretty!
Next is the bachelor button or coneflower.
Its pretty spidery flowers will keep on blooming if you deadhead them.
Then there is the hyacinth.
This one was given to us years ago from my husbands grandfather.
And pretty columbine.  Another one that reseeds.
This one comes in many colors, but my purple one always blooms first.
My irises have just begun to bloom.  This one is a little soggy due to all the rain...sigh.
It's supposed to dry out this weekend (hopefully) and they will look better.
Again, only my purple ones have started to bloom.
And even in the herb garden, the only thing blooming is the chives.
This is the only time in the spring and summer that it is a symphony of one color.  I love it!

  1. Alot of my purple/lavender/blue is blooming right now too. My white iris's have already bloomed and are done. The lavender ones behind them are doing great but like yours, a little soggy! It will certainly be nice to see some sunshine later today and tomorrow!~Hugs, Patti
