recycled books

My friend was cleaning out her house and was going to get rid of a whole lot of books.
I asked her if I could have them.
Surely my daughter and I could come up with something to do with them!
So this sale we took her books and came up with new ways of using them.
From taking paperbacks and making them into new shapes....
to making the pages into new artwork....
or covering the books in pretty papers or sayings...
so many things you can do with old books!

farmstead lighting

My husband is the mastermind behind all the wiring of our chandeliers and all of our other lighting adventures.
He makes the coolest lights.  I call them Farmstead Lights.
The latest in his collection are these great vintage tripods that he makes into lights.
They are great because they are adjustable to the height you want them to be.
They look great in a family room or one on each side of a bed!

new sign!

I had asked the wonderfully talented Jenni from The Vintage songbird to paint me a couple of signs for the Farm...
What a wonderful surprise when she arrived to our sale with this beauty!
She did an AMAZING job making our sign!
I LOVE IT!
She is sooooo talented.
We had so much fun with her and her boyfriend this weekend.
We can't wait for The Summer Market this July where we will both be set up so we can see them again!

French Hen Farm and Friends - Uptown Antiques

Another friend we would like to introduce is our friend, Kim, from Uptown Antiques in Marysville.
Kim has owned her shop for about 4 years now.  It's a lovely shop in the heart of Marysville.
I first met Kim when I started to go to auctions in the area and we would bid on the same things ;)
...so, you would have thought we would become competitors... but it has been just the opposite!
She has become one of our dearest friends.
She is so sweet, and supportive and a super smart business woman!
We have learned so much from her.
She has been the most supportive mentor in our little venture of starting our business.
We have asked her to be a part of our Spring Sale.
She will be setting up a tent on the grounds and will be bringing a wonderful assortment of goodies.
She especially loves primitives and she has a lovely taste level.
Here are a couple shots from her shop.
...And, she is SOO much fun!
So come and support another wonderful, talented, local business lady.
You can visit her blog and website at www.uptown-antiques.com

French Hen Farm and Friends - The Vintage Songbird

For the upcoming sale, we should have named it French Hen Farm & Friends!!
We are so excited to be featuring a few new, talented artists and friends.
We already told you about our beekeeper and pen maker....

I'd like to introduce Jenni, from The Vintage Songbird.
Jenni is an artist that I met via blogging...well, actually, we haven't officially met yet!
We have been e mailing back and forth for about a year.
I have admired her work for a while and thought she would be a great addition to the show!
She does amazing work!

Jenni started The Vintage Songbird as a hobby/side business while she stayed at home raising her three young children.
Over the last four years she has grown her business that is focused on re-purposed vintage finds and beautiful antique furniture.
She is currently selling out of four retail locations as well as traveling to several antique/vintage shows throughout the state including The Summer Market where we will both be set up (more on that later!)
She incorporates hand-painted design work into almost all of her pieces, and enjoys rescuing forgotten pieces of history, turning them into something that will be admired and enjoyed!
I was so attracted to her sign paintings and I thought she would be an amazing addition to French Hen Farm.
I look forward to meeting her and sharing her beautiful artwork.
Hope you can come next weekend and support another very talented local artist!
