religious medals

I have been collecting religious medals and rosaries for many years.
I am now making them into something very special.

I love the fact that they have all been hand touched, and cherished for so many years.
They have a magical sense about them.
I try to imagine who held them in their church service or during times of trouble, times of joy.
I am making special gifts this Holiday.  They are really two gifts in one.
The first is a beautiful charm bracelet.
The bracelet is made of many, many vintage religious charms and medallions, buttons, pearls and baubles and bits.

Added to it, is additional length so that you can wear it as a necklace.
Each necklace contains a piece of vintage rosary beads.
In addition each piece will contain a vintage four leaf clover button or charm for added extra good luck for the wearer!
A perfect way to bring in the New Year, with a very lucky, blessed new gift for you or a loved one!
I will be listing these and a few others in our Etsy shop this week.

PS...5 more days until our drawing for the Annie Sloan Chalk paint Giveaway!

new years resolution... french charm bracelets

One of my New years Resolutions this year...(among many) is to get things listed on Etsy.
I am going to start with some of my past finds from the wonderful French Flea markets that I have visited over the years.

I am going to be making charm bracelets from these...old french key chains.....
I will be transforming into these....
Fabulously French, one of a kind, fun charm bracelets made from the cute bottoms of the french key chains!
There was a booth in Clignancourt that had walls of these old key chains.  I looked at them and thought "what could I make out of those?"  I had walked by and came back trying to think of what I could make.
There were some really cute ones, some weird ones, but they were all French.
Surely I could figure something out.  So I bought bags of these.  Bags and bags.  Wasn't the smartest thing to do, as I then had to carry these heavy bags around the market.  I thought my arm was going to break off!
I think they are really fun, and fabulously French!
I will be sharing some of the other goodies I will be putting on Etsy later this weekend.

stamped jewelry

 a few more jewelry shots...

My sister gave me a wonderful gift for Christmas a couple years ago -  a jewelry making class where we learned how to stamp and solder sterling jewelry.
We all took the class together and had so much fun!

Now, my husband and I make this jewelry together.  We stamp sweet messages on solid sterling round disks ...add a sterling chain and it is a wonderful gift for a friend, mother or daughter!
Everyone loves getting a sweet personalized message from a loved one!

We're thinking of offering classes of jewelry making and some of the other crafts that we make here on the farm.
We might have a sign up sheet at the next sale to see if anyone might be interested in learning something new and taking some classes in the Spring....

more farm jewelry

Another thing that I like to play with in my jewelry is old optical lenses.  I bought a whole set at a flea market.
I collect all kinds of old handwriting.  I love the beauty of handwriting from years ago.
My kids learned how to find four leaf clovers from a friend of mine.  They can now go out and find them right away.
One day last summer I needed some to make this jewelry.
I told the kids that I would pay them a dollar for each four leaf clover they could find.
Thinking this challenge might cost me...... maybe twenty dollars.
In about a half hour my kids cam into the house with FISTFULS!
I mean fistfuls... to the tune of 240 four leaf clovers!
Not at all what I expected!
I made a deal with them, so I had to follow through, but I got them to agree to put the most of the money into their savings account.
I put them into my jewelry to add a little luck to each piece!

farm jewelry

here are some pictures of some of the jewelry we make here on the farm.
I like to use a lot of found objects in my jewelry.  Here are some really pretty keys that i added some parts and pieces of old rhinestone jewelry.
Add a sterling chain and you have a repurposed heirloom to pass on to your daughter!
